Where Did Jewelry Boxes Originate?

A watchmaker and jeweler in Boston was frustrated by the poor quality of jewelry boxes from Europe. To remedy this problem, he traveled to his hometown of Brunswick, Maine, where his father was a shoemaker. His sisters helped him assemble the boxes and his brother was recruited to help with sales.
